In-Rack PROFINET Connectivity Now Available for ControlLogix® PACs

Chances are you have a variety of industrial protocols represented across your application’s equipment. Two of the biggest are EtherNet/IP™ and PROFINET.

ProSoft is happy to announce that we’re now enabling in-rack PROFINET connectivity for Rockwell Automation® ControlLogix® PACs. This is the first time in-chassis PROFINET connectivity has been available for Rockwell Automation users, and this integration is key for seamless networking between your PAC and PROFINET RT network.

Depending on the needs of your application, ProSoft has two PROFINET solutions available: The PROFINET Controller Module and PROFINET Device Module. Both modules provide multiple I/O connections to the ControlLogix and data update rates that reliably support the most demanding PROFINET RT applications.

The ILX56-PNC PROFINET Controller Module:  

· Allows your ControlLogix to communicate with up to 64 PROFINET devices on your PROFINET RT network.

Allows you to pass up to 4096 bytes of high-speed cyclic I/O data on your PROFINET network.

Meanwhile, the ILX56-PND PROFINET Device Module:

· Supports up to 1440 bytes of cyclic I/O data when allowing your ControlLogix to communicate on your PROFINET RT network.

· Supports media redundancy through MRP and PROFINET Controller redundancy, using the Media Redundancy protocol and S2 Controller Redundancy, respectively.

Both modules allow for streamlined integration into your application, thanks to the use of the PLX50 Configuration Utility, which has advanced features such as custom-built Add-On Routines and user-defined data types (UDTs).
