The Prosoft communication module supports 2-wire RS-485 communications. Although not officially supported, it is possible to get at least some 4-wire RS-485 devices to communicate using the following steps.

  1. Jumper the receive + and transmit + pins together.
  2. Jumper the receive - and transmit - pins together.
  3. Connect the RX/TX+ line on the ProSoft module to one of the + pins on the device.
  4. Connect the RX/TX- line on the ProSoft module to one of the - pins on the device.

While these steps have been successful for most 4-wire devices, there is no guarantee that any specific 4-wire device will be able to communicate with our half-duplex 2-wire Prosoft modules.

Also, some customers have reported success using 4-wire RS-485 devices when the prosoft is set up as an RS-422 device.
