Des ferries électriques plus performants grâce au sans fil

En Europe, une entreprise transports via ferries électriques a dû améliorer son réseau de communications. En effet, la demande était telle que plusieurs ferries étaient nécessaires simultanément, et les communications devaient se faire depuis la mer (à partir de 100 mètres de la rive).

Le fabricant de machines et le client final ont eu deux exigences: le système devait être redondant et géré depuis le système de contrôle ou le switch/routeur. Deux lignes de communication ont été nécessaires afin de signaler les ferries supplémentaires pendant les périodes de forte demande, et les ferries hors service le cas échéant.

Des radios avec licence ont été envisagées, mais ce sont finalement les points d’accès industriels à roaming ultra rapide ProSoft qui ont été retenus. La simplicité d’utilisation a aussi été un plus. Désormais, chaque quai et chaque ferry est équipé – ce qui fait 22 radios au total.
