Gather Field Data with New Modbus Router

Your field devices have essential data that can help identify problems, enable predictive maintenance, and more – but first you need connectivity that can facilitate reliable data transfers.

The new Modbus Router is here to help.

Support for multiple protocols, new features

We’re excited for the new module for several reasons, and its features top the list.

The multi-port module features support for EtherNet/IP™, Modbus TCP/IP, and Modbus RTU, and data can be sent to a processor or SCADA system using EtherNet/IP or Modbus. This type of multi-protocol support is a must in most verticals, where a mix of industrial protocols is the norm; and ideal for OEMs, whose machines need to support flexible protocol configurations.

Meanwhile, we’re happy that the new module features device level ring (DLR) and EtherNet/IP Originator support. The DLR topology feature ensures that if the module’s Ethernet connection breaks at any point, data will flow one way until it reaches each of the devices on the network, ensuring overall connectivity is maintained. Meanwhile, the EtherNet/IP Originator feature allows the module to originate messages to 10 EtherNet/IP devices that can answer the request, ideal for larger networks.

This is ProSoft’s first Modbus solution with DLR and EtherNet/IP Originator support.

Versatile solution with streamlined installation

While the features above are synonymous with gateway modules, the Modbus Router serves another purpose – as its name suggests!

When being used as a router, you can forward Modbus data from the unit’s serial ports to its Ethernet port. This enables reliable connectivity across the applicable networks and strengthens data collection efforts in ensuring all information is received.

In addition, the Modbus Router has features that help quicken installation and integration. Direct-to-tag support and the module’s Add-On Profile make setup a breeze – and allow you to quickly start transferring essential data from your field devices.
